I have compiled 8 more online companies that hire non-native speakers
I come from America, so I don’t truly know the difficulties that the non-native teachers face online. However, I spend a lot of time scouting through the teaching groups on Facebook and can constantly see a barrage of posts exposing the sheer discrimination against certain countries and individuals that are trying to teach English as a non-native speaker.
I have worked with many non-native speakers while I was teaching in China and I’m still working with non-native speakers in Tahiti currently, and I must say that most of them do a better job than the actual native speakers that I’ve worked alongside.
Obviously, I’m not saying that all native-speakers are bad teachers, but I have noticed that a lot of them take the jobs for granted and slack off quite a bit because they know they have the upper hand as a native speaker.
Non-native English teachers have always (the ones I’ve met) shown total dedication and determination for the job. They generally seem more grateful and are incredibly talented and creative with their lesson plans. That is why I keep compiling lists for my non-native English teaching friends. I want them to see that there are still opportunities out there even with the discrimination.
2021 is bringing more opportunities than ever as Covid is still surging across the planet. Many schools are still closed, and many countries are not accepting teachers so the demand for online teachers keeps rising and the online teaching platforms keep popping up month by month.

In addition, I would highly recommend that you acquire a TEFL certificate if you don’t already have one. This will improve your chances to land a job tremendously. If you don’t have one, I would suggest reading my other article for the best place to get TEFL certified. I only suggest this company because it’s where I got mine and they are incredibly helpful with job placement after you finish the courses.
